Now in testing on real boats

A first mate for every skipper

Capmate keeps the anchor watch, shows your boat's instruments and plans the passage — on your phone and on your wrist. The chart and the anchor alarm work without internet.

Features

Everything the crew needs, in one app

Anchor, instruments, chart, weather, traffic and places to stay — on the phone and on the watch.

Screens are from the current test build, which is in Russian.

Anchor watch

Sleep while Capmate keeps the watch

Enter the depth and Capmate works out how much chain to let out for the forecast gusts and sets the alarm circle. Then it watches the boat in the background: swing track, distance to the anchor, drift. If the anchor drags or GPS is lost, the phone and the watch sound the alarm.

  • Chain and alarm radius from depth and gusts
  • Runs in the background on the phone
  • Loud alarm on the phone and the watch

Boat instruments

Your plotter's data, anywhere on deck

Capmate joins the boat's Wi-Fi and reads the chartplotter over NMEA 0183: depth, apparent and true wind, speed through water, heading and the boat's AIS. Glance at your wrist instead of walking to the helm.

  • Tested with B&G Zeus3
  • Any plotter or gateway that streams NMEA 0183 over Wi-Fi
  • True wind calculated on board

Chart and routes

Three ways to get there

An offline nautical chart with depths from EMODnet and GEBCO, downloaded by region. Pick a destination and Capmate offers three routes — under sail, under motor and the best mix for the forecast — then guides you like a car navigator, with a vibration before every change of course.

  • Regions: Mediterranean, Portugal, Canaries, Phuket
  • Routes through several points, starting anywhere
  • Turn-by-turn guidance on the watch

Weather

Weather the way sailors read it

Wind, gusts, waves and rain on the chart, hour by hour. Official warnings from AEMET and IPMA, the pressure trend with a storm alert from the barometer, sunrise, sunset and the moon.

  • Animated wind on the chart
  • Hourly wind and gusts for two days
  • Barometer storm alert on the watch

Vessels nearby

Know who is heading your way

AIS targets from your own receiver and from the internet, with the closest point of approach and an alarm when someone gets too close. In the marina Capmate stays quiet and turns the alarms back on once you are at sea.

Bays and marinas

Find a good spot for the night

Search marinas, anchorages, bays and fuel docks without internet. A bay card shows how sheltered it is now and overnight, the depths and what is nearby.

Built for the watch, not squeezed onto it

Questions

Does Capmate replace my chartplotter?

No. Capmate is a navigation aid for the crew. Keep official charts, the boat's instruments and a proper watch on deck.

Which chartplotters does it work with?

Any plotter or Wi-Fi gateway that streams NMEA 0183 over the boat's network. We test with a B&G Zeus3. Raymarine and Garmin plotters usually need a Wi-Fi gateway.

Do I need internet at sea?

Not for the chart, the anchor watch, the instruments or your saved points. Weather, warnings and AIS from the internet need a connection, and the app shows how fresh each piece of data is.

Does the anchor alarm work in the background?

On iPhone and Android, yes, with a loud alarm. On Garmin watches the watch keeps guard while Capmate is open on it; the phone keeps watching either way.

Which watches are supported?

Garmin fēnix 7, epix (Gen 2 and Pro) and Forerunner 265 — 14 models in total — plus Galaxy Watch and other Wear OS watches. Apple Watch comes next.

When can I get it, and what will it cost?

Capmate is being tested on real boats now. It will be released on the App Store, Google Play and Garmin Connect IQ; the price will be announced at launch.

What languages does the app speak?

The test builds are in Russian. English, Spanish, Portuguese, German and French are being added before the public release.

Built on the water, not at a desk

Every feature has been tried at anchor and under way. Capmate is coming to the App Store, Google Play and Garmin Connect IQ.
